Ambulatory Surgery Center Staff
Podiatric Nursing Assistant
Elizabeth Garcia Elizabeth joined the nursing staff of Foot and Ankle of West Georgia in January of 2007. She was formerly employed by both the Medical Center and Dotors Hospital where she completed 720 clinical hours. She graduated from Columbus Technical College in 2006 where she completed her degree in surgical technology. Her clinical experience hours were in general, GYN, podiatry, and peripheral vascular areas while at the hospitals. Elizabeth graduated from Shaw High School in 2003. Her hobbies include reading, shopping, spending time with family and friends, and working out.
Margy Gunn Margy has been with Foot and Ankle of West Georgia since 2003. She is currently the medical nursing assistant for Dr. Michael Schreck and works closely with all of his patients. She has prior medical experience having previous worked at Hughston Clinic. Margy is an avid animal lover and has numerous four-legged "children" at home. Margy and Bryan are proud to announce the birth of their son, Bryce James Gunn, on May 15, 2007!
Brenda Garner Brenda joined the staff of Foot and Ankle of West Ga in August of 2008. She is the medical assistant for Dr. Carter Hyneman. She has a medical coding certificate from Columbus Technical College. Brenda is originally from Nebraska but moved to Columbus/Ft. Benning whenever her husband was transferred to Fort Benning. She is married to James Garner and has two children, Aaron and Clarisa. Brenda is a recipient of the Patriotic Civilian Service Award and is actively involved in both church and school activities. She has served as a Sunday School teacher, Bible school coordinator at her church as well as a teacher’s assistant and parent volunteer at her children’s school. Her hobbies include scrap booking, sewing and cooking.
JoAnne Edge JoAnne Edge joined Foot and Ankle of West Ga in August of 2009 to staff our newly developed diabetic shoe department. She was employed in the durable medical equipment field at several different companies and brings extensive knowledge and experience in her area to our practice. Mrs. Edge has received specialized training in the fitting of diabetic shoes and is certified by the American Board in Orthotics and Prosthetics. She has over four years experience in the fitting of diabetic shoes and was previously employed by Acme Medical Supply Company as an intake coordinator. Prior to her employment at Acme Medical, she was the office administrator at Convalescent Care Pharmacy in Columbus. She continues to augment and enhance her education and knowledge by attending seminars and utilizing various online programs to insure that she provides the most current techniques and utilizes the latest advances to enable her to better serve our patients. Mrs. Edge was born in Georgia and has lived in Columbus since she was nine. She has been married to Columbus native, Don Edge for over 39 years. They have two grown daughters, Alicia Day (husband, Steve) and they have one child, grandson/son, Andrew. Their youngest daughter, Leslie Edge also works in the medical field. JoAnne graduated from Jordan High School in Columbus. She enjoys cooking, crafts and traveling to the beach to relax.
Front Desk Receptionist
Noemi Maldonado Robles:
Noemi joined the staff of Foot and Ankle of West Ga in 2011 as a front desk receptionist. She recently moved from New Jersey to Columbus where her husband is currently stationed at Fort Benning. Noemi brings a wealth of medical experience to our practice. She was previously employed at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Aboy, New Jersey as a billing coordinator. Prior to this she was employed for five years at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton, New Jersey in various capacities as a medical billing specialist, quality operations coordinator and as a manager in the wound care center. She is married to Henryk Maldonado who is an officer at Fort Benning. She has four children, two who are living in Columbus and attending school at Fort Benning, GA. She attends North Highlands Assembly of God. Her hobbies include walking, cooking, and reading. Noemi is currently working on a medical billing degree at Troy online college. She is also bilingual (Spanish and English).
Office Manager Jeanie has been at Foot and Ankle since 2003. She has worked extensively in the medical field and was previously employed by the Hughston Clinic as the Business Office Manager and by Columbus Surgical Associates as a lead clerk, front desk receptionist, and surgery coordinator. Jeanie is a Columbus native and graduated from Spencer High School. She is a CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative) and has many years of experience in the medical field. She is currently attending Virginia College to obtain an Associates Degree in Healthcare Reimbursement. Her hobbies are her "Little Man" Cameron who attends school at East Smiths Station Elementary School, outdoor concerts, Alabama Football, spending time with family and friends. She attends Cascade Hills Baptist Church in Columbus.
Kathryn Herndon Kathryn is a long time employee and has been at Foot and Ankle for the past 18 years. She began as a front desk receptionist and has worked in the insurance and billing departments prior to assuming her current responsibilities as assistant office manager. Kathryn graduated from Kendrick High School in Columbus. She is an avid reader, enjoys doing needlework, and cooking. She loves to travel and visited England and France last year and just returned from a cruise to Canada.
Terry E. Hammond Formerly, in our billing and insurance department, Ms. Hammond has assumed new duties as a part-time marketing and public relations director. She has been at Foot and Ankle since 1988. Prior to this she was an investment councilor with First Investors Corporation in Jacksonville, FL. She also was employed by First Union (now Wachovia Bank) in their management training program. She has an associates degree in sociology from Coastal Community College in Brunswick, GA. She graduated from University of GA with a bachelors degree in economics and then completed her MBA from UGA Graduate Business School with a concentration in finance. Her hobbies include gardening, traveling, hiking, boating and UGA football. She is an avid reader and a member of the GRITS (Girls Raised in the South) Book Club. Ms. Hammond is an active member of the Crossroads Sunday School Class at St. Luke Methodist Church, a member of the Pastoral Institute Women’s Auxiliary, the Columbus Museum and the West Central Georgia Medical Managers Association. She enjoys live theater and is a past President of the Springer Opera House and the Republican Women’s Club. She is a frequent volunteer at the local PAWS Humane Society. Her favorite past times are spending time with her husband, three daughters and numerous four legged creatures. Ms. Hammond is responsible for organizing and coordination of outside talks and screenings for civic and medical clubs or organizations in the Columbus and surrounding areas. Tina Pettitt Tina joined the staff of Foot and Ankle of West Ga in June of 2008 as our billing and insurance specialist. She has extensive training in workman’s compensation claims and is also our liaison for workman’s compensation claims. She comes to FAWG with over 22 year experience in processing of insurance and workman’s compensation claims. She was previously employed by Wilhoit and Associates (Physical Therapy) as a billing administrator and with Cal-Med (Third Party Administrators) as the office manager. Tina has extensive customer service skills and has completed the CPAR (Certified Patient Account Representative) from the Alabama Chapter. Tina graduated from Anniston High School in 1979 and Gadsden Business College in 1981. Mrs. Pettitt moved to Georgia in 2006 and is married to Rodger Pettitt who is also originally from Anniston, AL. She is a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. They have two dogs, Ginger and Toby. Tina enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. Her hobbies include cooking, gardening and any type of water activity, particularly boating. She loves living in Georgia and is a valuable member of the Foot and Ankle team.
